About IGPME

     The International Group for the Psychology of Mathematics Education (IGPME) is an autonomous body, governed as provided for in its constitution. It is an official subgroup of the International Commission for Mathematical Instruction (ICMI) and came into existence at the Third International Congress on Mathematics Education (ICME-3) held in Karlsruhe, Germany in 1976. The aims of the organization are:

     1. to promote international contacts and exchange of scientific information in the field of mathematical education;
     2. to promote and stimulate interdisciplinary research in the aforesaid area; and
     3. to further a deeper and more correct understanding of the psychology and other aspects of teaching and learning mathematics and the implications thereof.

PME Regional Conference

     PME Regional Conference are an initiative approved by PME members in their Annual General Meeting in PME 40 (Hungary, 2016). These events have the goal of supporting researchers from regions underrepresented within PME to organize a conference in their region with the objective of promoting both within- and extra-regional networking. In other words, PME Regional Conferences aim at:
     a) supporting a regional research community whose goals are aligned with those of PME, and
     b) attracting researchers from the region to actively participate in future PME conferences and supporting them in preparing high quality PME contributions.
     The Annual General Meeting in PME 41 (Singapore, 2017), one year later, approved a proposal for organizing a PME Regional Conference for South America during 2018. This year the PME Regional Conference will be held in Thailand. This is the first time that PME Regional Conference take place in Mekong Sub-region.
